This year, I will be maximizing my exposure to aerospace design and related challenges. I am taking courses in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and solid materials. I have increased my responsibilities within the rocketry team to become a project lead, developing a liquid oxygen quick disconnect. By the end of the school year, I will have completed another full engineering cycle, with experience on how to design and machine fluid systems. My aim is to be ready for an aerospace internship this summer. Using the skills I have gained, I know I can contribute to building real space-grade hardware and software while still learning and absorbing information from experts and professionals.

Welcome!

My name is Paolo Maselli, I'm from New Jersey, and I’m a third-year mechanical engineering student at Columbia University SEAS. Growing up, I was fascinated by toy rockets and airplanes, always dreaming of being in the clouds and reaching the stars. That early passion has shaped my path. Since arriving at Columbia, I’ve been an active member of the Columbia Space Initiative, contributing to the rocketry team’s fluids subteam. In the summer of 2025, I gained my first professional engineering experience as a manufacturing engineering intern at Ball Corporation, where I worked on real-world projects that strengthened both my technical and professional skills.
